Medical Billing Coordinator

Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Billing Coordinator provided business office support by billing all inpatient accounts and following up on inpatient Medicare collections.
Job Duties:
· Provide business office support
· Bill all inpatient accounts
· Follow-up on inpatient Medicare collections
Minimum Qualifications/Equivalents:
Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare billing
· Some project coordination experience
· Working knowledge of the pre-certification process
· Insurance verification
· Medical coding
· Interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
· Posting payment and contractual adjustments
· Collecting patient liability accounts
· Auditing payments versus expected reimbursement
Skills/Competencies:
· Self-motivated; must carry out extended projects with minimal supervision
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Medical terminology knowledge
· Working knowledge of managed care and Medicare reimbursement
· Data entry proficiency equivalent to 50 words per minute
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ability to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously
