Nurse Residency Program

If you are a recent RN or LPN graduate who is interested in a TRANSITION TO PRACTICE program, Siskin Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program is for you!

Content of Program:

  • One week hospital and nursing orientation

  • One week rotation through each of the five units (Ortho, Stroke, Brain Injury, Medical and Sub Acute)

  • Match day assigns each resident to a unit and a shift.

  • 8-12 weeks with a preceptor before being counted in staffing.

  • Eight monthly seminars.

Eligible applicants

Diploma LPN, Associate degree LPN, Associate degree RN, or Bachelor degree RN that has graduated from an accredited school of nursing program and has less than one year experience.

Requirements

Participants will be required to sign a commitment contract and agree to adhere to the required educational activities during the program.

Details

Two-year commitment from hire with a payback required if commitment is not fulfilled.

Two yearly cohorts are available: Winter and Summer. Each cohort is limited to six participants.

Program goals are to provide educational support to the new nurse graduate in three main areas – leadership, patient outcomes, and role and responsibilities of the professional nurse.
