Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation is seeking PRN Speech Language Pathologists for our Inpatient and Outpatient programs. We are looking for individuals with a flexible schedule, who desire to serve on a team dedicated to quality patient care.

We have a large department of SLPs who enjoy collaborating and working together to make sure we provide the best patient care possible across the continuum. Our PRN staff serve patients on our inpatient rehabilitation units, subacute units, and in our outpatient program (downtown Chattanooga, Cleveland, Hixson, Ringgold, and East Brainerd). The speech-language pathologist provides evaluation and treatment for speech, language, cognitive, and/or swallowing disorders as needed (PRN Status). (S)he is responsible for inpatient, outpatient (on and offsite), subacute and services as assigned. (S)he is expected to assist in general program development and to be actively involved in continuing education. In addition, (s)he is responsible for knowing and adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and the standards outlined in the Code of Ethics of ASHA. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS

Education/Experience:

  • CPR Certification through American Heart Association

  • Certificate for Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA

  • Tennessee license in Speech-Language Pathology

Skills/Competencies:

  • Must demonstrate good judgment and appropriate respect for persons with a variety of disabilities and challenging behaviors. Must meet competency requirements during the first 30 days of employment for the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders, cognition, and dysphagia. May be required to meet other competency requirements such as interpretation of modified barium/videofluoroscopic swallow function studies.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

I. Physical Requirements

  • Position requires ability to frequently push/pull more than 50 pounds/objects (wheelchairs and patients), and to frequently lift light objects less than 20 pounds.

  • Position requires incumbent to frequently perform manipulation tasks such as using computers/audiometers and writing notes and reports.

  • Position frequently requires adequate coordination to maneuver patient into appropriate position in office/patient room.

  • Position requires ability to constantly sit for prolonged periods during individual sessions and to stand for prolonged periods during group sessions. Incumbent must frequently also be required to assume uncomfortable positions during treatment sessions.

II. Mental Requirements

  • Conceptualization - Position requires ability to constantly understand and relate theories behind several related concepts.

  • Flexibility - Position requires use of patience and diplomacy during interaction with diverse personalities of patients, family members, staff and visitors.

  • Demonstrates excellent reading comprehension, written and oral communication skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Employee may be occasionally exposed to radiation during modified barium/videofluroscopic swallow function studies.

  • Employee may frequently be exposed to body fluids or infectious diseases during therapy.

  • Employee may occasionally be exposed to hazardous chemical materials used in the cleaning of equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $50.00 per hour
