Siskin Hospital is proud to announce that Douglas Daniel, DPT, OCS, Cert. DN and Chris Merchant, DPT, OCS, Cert. DN, have satisfied the requirements for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification.

The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties awarded the credential, which recognizes Drs. Daniel and Merchant as having advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skills in the treatment of musculoskeletal or orthopedic conditions.

Dr. Daniel is a physical therapist at Siskin Hospital’s downtown Outpatient Therapy clinic. He has nearly 10 years of experience in therapy. He is also certified in Dry Needling, a treatment technique that can be used in conjunction with physical therapy to decrease pain, improve range of motion, and improve function.

Dr. Merchant is a physical therapist in Siskin Hospital’s East Brainerd Outpatient Therapy clinic. He has four years of experience in therapy and is also certified in Dry Needling.

“This nationally-recognized credential will better serve the needs of the Chattanooga community and enhance therapeutic outcomes,” said Director of Outpatient Services Natalie McDonald. With this achievement, she said, there are three practitioners in Siskin Hospital’s outpatient clinics who hold this advanced credentialing in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic conditions.
