Siskin Hospital hosts specialty stroke certification course
December 1, 2021
Sixty physical and occupational therapists and assistants from across the country will attend the December 3-5 Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS) course at Siskin Hospital.
“As the largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation services in the state of Tennessee, we’re honored to sponsor the course at Siskin Hospital,” said Vice President of Administration Tod Cain. “By emphasizing evidence-based approaches to the care of stroke patients, we expect our already exemplary patient outcomes to improve even further.” He said course availability is limited and because of high demand, immediately fills up with applicants.
Siskin Hospital has the highest concentration of CSRS-certified therapists in Tennessee, and 70 percent of CSRS-certified therapists in Chattanooga currently practice at Siskin Hospital. Importantly, the number of CSRS-certified therapists at Siskin Hospital will double following completion of the training this weekend.
The CSRS course consists of a one-day virtual didactic and three-day in-person seminar and lab. Emphasis is placed on current evidence-based practice to address stroke-related symptoms encountered by therapists, including
- Upper and lower extremity musculoskeletal problems
The CSRS is the field’s only stroke certification for both physical and occupational therapists and assistants.
