Siskin Hospital represented at recent “Innovators in Aging Care Summit”
Panel discusses innovations in health care
Amy Burba, OTR/L, represented Siskin Hospital at the recent “Innovators in Aging Care Summit” Friday.
The event, organized by The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department, featured six “Chattanooga Innovators” who made individual “Idea into Action” presentations based on four criteria:
• Identifying a need/gap
• Researching ways to bridge that need/gap
• Identifying the right collaborators/champions
• Taking action
Ms. Burba, who directs Siskin Hospital’s Outpatient Therapy Services, spoke about the hospital’s Low Vision Program and its involvement in the founding of the Chattanooga Low Vision Network. The Network is a collaborative partnership between Siskin Hospital, Southeastern Vision Rehabilitation, and Signal Center. From its founding in 2014, the volume of patients served by each provider in the Network has tripled or quadrupled and its offerings continue to expand.
