Dr. J. Christopher Young
J. Christopher Young, Ph.D. is a Clinical Neuropsychologist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Dr. Young is board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. Young is one of 14 individuals boarded in Clinical Neuropsychology by the ABPP in Tennessee and the only Clinical Neuropsychologist currently accepting patients in the Chattanooga region.
Dr. Young specializes in the treatment of dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, movement disorders, and cognitive effects of chronic medical illness. Additionally, Dr. Young has extensive experience in the evaluation of a wide range of pediatric cognitive disorders including those resulting from traumatic brain injury, cancer, and epilepsy.
Dr. Young is the co-director of Siskin Hospital's Stroke Recovery Aftercare Program. He provides advanced expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders across the lifespan, including dementia, stroke, movement disorders, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive effects of chronic medical illness. Additionally, he provides evaluation and consultation services for a wide range of medicolegal issues pertaining to neurocognitive dysfunction. Dr. Young sees patients who are in Siskin Hospital’s Inpatient and Outpatient Therapy Programs.
Dr. Young obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at University of Mississippi in Oxford, and completed his Neuropsychology Track Internship at Memphis VA Medical Center.
Dr. Young completed his Association of Post-doctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology member post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Memphis VA Medical Center, and also obtained post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Semmes-Murphey Neurology and Spine Clinic in Memphis. He was instrumental in establishing the Memory Disorders Clinic at Memphis VA Medical Center.
