    Dr. Matthew Rider

    Admitting Physician, Medical Director of the Stroke Rehabilitation Program

    Dr. Rider serves as the Medical Director of the Stroke Rehabilitation Program at Siskin Hospital, providing advanced stroke rehabilitation care in the dedicated Stroke Unit. Dr. Rider leads a treatment team of highly-skilled professionals whose goal is to help each patient achieve the best recovery outcome possible. By specializing in the rehabilitation of individuals with neurological disorders, Dr. Rider provides valuable insight and leadership to the treatment team.

    Dr. Rider plays a key role in the ongoing development of the Stroke Recovery Aftercare Program, which provides an interdisciplinary approach involving our Psychologists and Case Managers. The Stroke Recovery Aftercare Program furthers Siskin Hospital's stroke continuum of care.

    Patients can also be seen by Dr. Rider on an outpatient basis at Siskin Spine and Rehabilitation Specialists, the physician office located at Siskin Hospital.

    Dr. Rider is a native of Elkhart, Indiana and received his Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where he majored in biology. He attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, graduating with honors, and received the Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his transitional internship, as well as his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, at Indiana University School of Medicine.  Additionally, he served as Chief Resident while at Indiana University School of Medicine. 

    Dr. Rider gained international medical experience as a volunteer for Haiti Medical Missions and Guyana Medical Missions. Additionally, he has volunteered at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, helping improve acute care patient processes.

    Dr. Rider is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as a past member of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is primary board certified in Brain Injury, and subspecialty board-certified in Brain Injury Medicine. His professional interests include comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, spasticity management, Botulinum Toxin injection, and electrodiagnosis.
