A Celebration of Life...Hope...and Possibilities!
"Living Your Joy" was the theme at the 8th Annual Possibilities Luncheon!
Held on:
Wednesday, February 16, 2011
Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center
Bonnie St. John shared her inspiring story!!
As an amputee, Olympic skier, Rhodes Scholar, former White
House official, successful businesswoman and author, Bonnie St. John knows a little something about overcoming challenges.
She has relentlessly sought ways to stay positive and live joyfully no matter what life dishes out. Her deep sense of peace and joy in life has inspired millions of people to seek what she has learned about finding joy in a crazy world.
After having her leg amputated at a young age, Bonnie overcame a mountain of obstacles. Her determination and winning spirit led her to Innsbruck, Austria, where she won Silver and Bronze medals as a ski racer in the 1984 Paralympics.

Bonnie also graduated with honors from Harvard University and won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. She was later appointed to the White House National Economic Council and has worked tirelessly as a disability advocate.
She has been featured on The Today Show, Montel Williams, CNN, Good Morning America, as well as in People Magazine, the New York Times, Essence and many others. Bonnie is a critically acclaimed author and is one of the most highly sought after keynote speakers in the country.
Her message of falling down and getting up--in life, at an Olympic ski race, or in business--has been sought after by CEOs, recognized in the White House, celebrated on a Starbucks cup, and honored with a doctoral degree for her lifetime commitment to motivating people.
Bonnie's philosophy is that, "Everyone has the God-given capacity to live joyfully- it doesn't depend on your circumstances. But it does require that you make the choice to identify your joys in life and take action to reach them."
"Bonnie St. John's story is simply gripping...from a small child losing her leg at age 5, to a silver medal in downhill racing at the Winter Olympics, to Harvard, to the White House... Bonnie is an extraordinary example of courage and inspiration." - Amy Dorn Kopelan, Author
"Bonnie St. John is the kind of person who shows that individual courage matters in life." - Former President George W. Bush

Celebrate Life Beyond Disability!!!
The Possibilities Luncheon also features personal accounts of how individuals have overcome their disabilities to achieve amazing accomplishments. There was a very special patient video with heartwarming footage of Siskin Hospital patients who have a miraculous recovery story to share. Love, courage, and perseverance helped each person turn tragedy into triumph, as they discovered that life is full of possibilities.
A dedicated Steering Committee worked with Siskin Hospital employees to help coordinate the luncheon. Siskin Hospital appreciates Lynda and Jim Sattler for serving as the 2011 Steering Committee Co-Chairs.
The Possibilities Luncheon is Siskin Hospital's largest community-wide fundraising event, with proceeds helping to provide needed services for patients without adequate insurance to cover the cost of their care.
