    Admission:
At Siskin Hospital, we strive to make your admission a seamless process. You may contact the Admissions Office at 423.634.1277 or speak with your Nurse Liaison for more information on the admission process.

Once you and your doctor have made the decision that rehabilitation is right for your recovery, one of our Nurse Liaisons will meet with you and your family to preform any neccessary pre-admission steps. Your Siskin Hospital Nurse Liaison will then coordinate your admission to Siskin Hospital.

Your transportation from another facility to Siskin Hospital is arranged by your current case manager. You and your family are only responsible for transportation to the hospital if you are admitted from home. When you arrive, we will provide bedside admission and a patient information folder to answer more detailed questions about your time here.

Your Private Inpatient Room:Private Inpatient Room
Being able to rest and relax comfortably is an important aspect of healing, and having a private room helps to provide our patients with a much-needed santuary for recovery.

Our oversized Inpatient rooms have always set us apart, because unlike most facilities, they were specifically designed for rehabilitation patients, accommodating wheelchairs in an overly large, spacious room.

    Private Inpatient Room Features:

    • Large, spacious accommodations that provide complete privacy for our patients and their families
    • Flat screen TVs mounted higher on the wall for easy viewing
    • Private bathrooms designed for rehabilitation patients
    • Specialized rehabilitation beds that lower below the standard setting to help ease with transitioning in and out of bed
    • Hardwood floors and windows that provide outside views
    • Open-concept design, making it easier for wheelchair use

    Visiting Hours:
Visiting with family and friends is an important part of your recovery and visits are encouraged. Visitors should check in and out with the receptionist in the main lobby upon arrival and when leaving. Because of the patient's busy therapy schedule, visitors are encouraged to stop by M-F from 5:00- 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 3:00-9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 4:00-9:00 p.m.

    A Typical Day:
Though your schedule will vary depending on your diagnosis and your goals, the schedule below outlines the typical day for most inpatients. When you are in your room during the day, rehabilitation nurses may use the time to provide valuable education to you and your family or to help you practice the skills you learn in therapy.

Early Morning: You will be served breakfast and members of therapy or nursing staff will assist you in daily living skills like bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating as needed.

Midmorning: The therapies ordered by your physiatrist will take place in the patient gyms, your room, or other specific locations within the hospital.

Midday: You will have lunch in the patient dining room, your floor's community room, or in your room. If you have difficulty with motor skills or swallowing, nurses or therapists will be on hand to assist you.

Afternoon: More physiatrist-ordered therapies will take place or you will have an opportunity to rest.

Evening: Dinner will be served with assistance provided as needed. After dinner, you will have time to relax, visit with family and friends, or pursue other leisure activities.
