Low Vision Program

    Siskin Hospital's Low Vision Program

    Siskin Hospital's Low Vision Program is conducted by Occupational Therapists with specialized training in low vision. The goal of the program is to help with low vision safely perform daily activities.

     

    Who would benefit from the program?

    People with <20/60 acuity with glasses or people with a loss of peripheral field or central vision.

     

    Our program helps improve independence with:

    • Reading & Writing
    • Money Management
    • Cooking
    • Shopping
    • Mobility
    • Medication Management
    • Telling Time
    • Using the Telephone

    Services include training in the use of visual aids. We can also perform evaluation and modification of the home environment to improve safety and independence, when appropriate.

     

    Admission Guidelines

    Referral to the program requires an order from your eye doctor stating "Occupational Therapy-Evaluate and Treat for Low Vision." Referrals may be faxed to (423) 634-4578.
