Accreditations and Awards
Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation was the first rehabilitation hospital in the nation to earn accreditation from both the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) within its first ten months of operation.
JCAHO RI.1.30: The integrity of decisions is based on identified care, treatment, and service needs of the patients.
1. The hospital has policies and procedures that address the integrity of clinical decision making.
2. To avoid compromising the quality of care, decisions are based on the patient's identified care, treatment, and service needs and in accordance with hospital policy.
3. Policies, procedures, and information about the relationship between the use of care, treatment, and services, and financial incentives, as they relate to either referring to, or using services, are available to all patients, staff, licensed independent practitioners, and contracted providers, when requested.
All employees participate in helping Siskin Hospital be efficient and effective in providing care to outpatients. As evidence of this, Siskin Hospital supports a hospital-wide Share Plan that allows all employees to benefit from efficiencies in hospital operations.
In addition, Siskin Hospital is the only CARF accredited physical rehabilitation facility in the Chattanooga area and was recently recognized by CARF as one of only a few facilities in the country to undergo three consecutive reviews by the commission without recommendations for improvement in service and quality.
In 2002, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Siskin Hospital for our service to the community by naming us Nonprofit Organization of the Year.
