Driving Evaluation and Training

The Driving Evaluation and Training program evaluates driving ability and provides training for individuals experiencing stroke, amputation, severe arthritis, spinal cord or brain injury, or any other condition affecting vision, perception, cognition, or physical ability.
An occupational therapist certified in driving rehabilitation conducts a clinical evaluation to assess vision, reaction time, physical ability, and driving judgment. The therapist then conducts an on-the-road evaluation in an adapted vehicle. When appropriate, training will be provided in the use of adaptive equipment for driving.
Results of the testing, training, and driving ability will be discussed with the patient and a report sent to the referring physician.
