Living + Self Care Area

The Center for NeuroRecovery includes a home-like treatment area dedicated to a patient’s activities of daily living.

A key principle in motor re-learning is to ensure the patient is actively engaged in an activity meaningful to them.

The “living and self-care” area allows patients to practice activities they will frequently perform in their own homes. Here, therapists help patients regain independence with cooking, bed making and mobility at home.

The Living/Self-Care treatment area in the Center for NeuroRecovery meets hospital-level infection control standards for our patients’ protection.

The Living and Self-Care Area allows for patients and their treatment team to practice Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) that they will frequently perform in their home.  It is here that our Therapists assist patients in regaining independence with cooking, homemaking, hobbies, laundry and self-care.  Our space is designed to simulate a home environment to allow our staff to train in this environment.
