Security Officer - PRN

As a Security Officer, you are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all individuals on the premises of Siskin Hospital. This includes the monitoring of hospital infrastructure to mitigate risks such as theft, fire, and vandalism. In addition, the Security Officer will respond to security needs of hospital staff while on duty and offer assistance to patients, visitors, and others requiring direction or information. Responsibilities also encompass parking regulation and other ad-hoc duties as needed.

This position falls under the direct authority of the Director of Facilities Management and the supervision of the Lead Security Officer. In this role, the individual is expected to work in close cooperation with the Facilities team and other Security personnel to uphold and ensure the implementation of safety measures, thus contributing to a secure hospital environment. There is no direct supervisory responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Security or on-the-job training provided.

  • At least one year of security experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

  • Must be 21 years old.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Security Licensure Certification preferred.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is necessary, as the role requires clear and effective communication with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

  • The ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor during stressful or emergency situations.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Fitness: Given the demands of the role, the candidate should be physically fit, capable of responding to emergencies quickly and effectively. They should not have physical conditions or limitations that could potentially lead to serious injury. The individual should be physically fit and capable of bending, stooping, lifting a minimum of 25 lbs., climbing steps and walking for extended periods of time. The nature of the role often requires considerable physical effort and resilience.

Mental Resilience: Emotional stability and mental strength are crucial for dealing with potential challenges, risks, and emergencies inherent to the role.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

The role may expose the officer to potential hazards, such as assault, exposure to infectious diseases, and unpredictable emergencies. Additionally, it may require operating under severe weather conditions and responding promptly to various types of emergencies without prior notice. The officer may need to defend themselves from premeditated physical attacks.
